-I saw the 1925 film, The Gold Rush, and I was wondering about Charlie Chaplin's famous mustache. Did he grow it before German Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler did? He is also famous for having had the same style of mustache.
Who had the toothbrush mustache first? Who invented it?chaplin had it first.
hitler was a fan of chaplin and it was speculated that he modeled his after chaplin, but there is no evidence to support it. (hitler originally wore the 'kaiser' moustache)
theres no info on who invented it. just that it became popular in america in the late 1800s, and was introduced in germany by visiting americans.
The Toothbrush moustache (also called Hitler moustache or Hitlerstache, Charlie Chaplin moustache, 1/3 moustache, philtrum moustache, the postage stamp, or soul (mou)stache) is a moustache, shaved at the edges, except for three to five centimeters above the centre of the lip. The sides of the moustache are vertical rather than tapered.
Chaplin had it first, the reason Hitler really had it was because he had to shave his Kaiser mustache so he could wear a gas mask in WW1
