How true?if an airplane remains at it's original place in air, aft 24hrs it'll reach è another end of è world?
-If an aircraft travels at 1,000 miles per hour at the equator and travelling west it will arrive at it's starting point after 24 hours. However since all movement on earth is relative it would not remain in the same place. However it will be the same time on board for the full 24 hours so if it took off at !2.00 mid-day it would be 12.00 mid-day all through the journey although this would take 24 hours.

Did samurai use falcons?
-I am having an argument with my brother, He states that he knows for a fact that samurai never used falcons. I, On the other hand state that Samurai did in fact use falcons and went through the internet to support my side. but he wont accept it. So please give me a definite answer and a link if possible to support yourself."Takagari (榉圭嫨?) is Japanese falconry, a sport of the noble class, and a symbol of their nobility, their status, and their warrior spirit. In Japan, records indicate that falconry began in the fourth century.[1] According to a passage in the Nihon Shoki (720), falconry was introduced by the Baekje noble Sakenokimi in 359 during the reign of Emperor Nintoku.[2] From the outset, the central Court and local lords both enjoyed hawking, with the former trying to monopolize falconry, sometimes with banning orders. Central power, however, as seen in the repetition of prohibiting orders, had no complete control over local falconry until the 17th century. In the 13th century, hawking became popular among the rising samurai class as well as among court nobles (kuge). At that time, the practice of hawking was a means of resolving struggles over land ownership among lords. Buddhist temples, who were also land owners, opposed falconry based on their ideology against killing. Falconer lords, on the other hand, devised a Buddhist rationale or resorted to Shinto justifications. Several falconry schools or styles (ry奴) were formed in the process."

Name this strange, stringed instrument?
-I saw it being played by a class the other day, but I can't figure out what it's called. The instruments are made of wood, are about 18 inches long, about 12 inches wide, and about four inches tall. It looks like a tiny coffin, and has strings on top like a violin or a guitar. The musicians were playing them with a bow, and the notes sounded a lot like the violin version of a sitar.dolcimer comes to mind, but i really do not what that is - without looking it up.
the other answer of zither is most probably correct (I did not look it up, either).

Will the World End in 2011?
-The Mayan Calendar ends in 2011, some people beleive that this is when the Earth moves off axis. The cause is Melting Polar Ice, What do you think? It may end in 2011 or 2012 or in fifty years or in three seconds. No matter how much science everyone claims to have discovered that proves that the world will end on this day or that day or whatever. Only God knows when the world will end. Jesus Christ will come back to collect His children and take them back to Heaven. Even Jesus doesn't know when the world will end, only God the Creator. P.S. Be ready for when Jesus comes back by repenting of your sins and asking Jesus into your heart and soul. There has been said that the Mayan calender ends in 2012. Then some people claimed that that was calculated wrong and that the Mayan calender would end way after that. But I don't get it, why does it matter if the Mayan calender ends? It doesn't mean that the world will end too. The melting polar ice, well fifty years ago they said that around this period of time the world would have been flooded because of that melting polar ice. When it comes to weather and such were still not able to measure things so precise. Right now a lot of people are just obsessed with the end of the world. People have always been, lots of philosophers have tried to predict the end of the world. But we can't, we don't know. I'd say don't worry about it. Earth has probably existed for about 4.7 billion years so it's not gonna end any time soon.
No it's just a scaremongering load of rubbish. Thousands of people have predicted 'the end of the world' over the years and every one of them was wrong. As as polar icecaps melting is concerned I was taught at school over 50 years ago that the earth's rotation has a slight wobble and the climate changes every 40 years or so. Looks like they were spot-on.
well, I don't think so... (even more after the May 2011 and Family Radio issue). We hear about the 21st Dec and planets aligning etc ... But I believe that ONE day in the universe means nothing. On earth, one day is long but in the context of universe ONE day is insignificant and I don't think that in ONE day, the universe will collapse...
I believe you mean 2012. But, no, I don't think anything will happen aside from some panic from believers in the 2012 theory. That's it.
it already has. :D

-My standard guess would be Einstein or Issac Newton.Scientifically speaking, Albert Einstein had the biggest brain and the "smartest" brain cells.
Jesus I mean he was smart enough not to give into temptation. : ) Seriously bUt out of those two I would say Einstein, though Issac contributed A LOT.
Joaquin "el chapo" Guzman loera. And nikola tesla.

Mensa problem solving #20!?
-To celebrate her 6th birthday, Lori planted a tree in her parent's garden. She had often watched her dad plant things and she did it just right. She even remembered to water it. Her mother was furious. She said that tree belonged to her and she had no business planting it. However, her father thought it was funny, but explained to her that the tree would never grow. Why?It looks like a little tree. To a 6 year old, why wouldn't it grow into a big tree? It won't grow because the roots have been removed by the time it reaches a kitchen.
This sounds wierd now. I hope it is right.I liked the other answers, (especially shoe tree) but would say it was a fake Christmas tree because a 6 yr old would know what the others were {but by the same token, she should know a plastic tree from a real tree. - so maybe it was a small but real Christmas tree that had no life left in it.}
or look for a word in front of or after **tree. (fill in) __________tree .... or, tree_________
like coat tree, tree gnome, jewelry tree
She buried her father's feet in the dirt. Mother was angry because she got Father's shoes all dirty, and Father really does belong to Mother. Father thought it was funny, though, which is why he went along with it.
It also could have been her mom's shoe tree, which would follow the same logic.
if it isnt an air freshener (good one 1st answerer) could it have been a carved tree?
a picture of a tree?
an artificial tree?
i bet it was a shoe tree.
added--or maybe a clothes tree.
I think Lori made the mistake of planting her mothers SHOE TREE!
it was a pine tree air freshener?

Does the size of the penis determine when a guy cums?
-No it depends on the stimulation of the nerve ends, mainly on the glans.

Help with first in math 24 game.?
-The object of the game is to get 24 using only 3 operatons and all 4 numbers. You can only use addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The solutions aren't that coplicated. For example if the numbers were 14, 14, 5 and 1 the solutions would be 14+14=28 5-1=4 28-4=24. Some however, are not as easy. I cant figure out these ones:
1. 17,13,11,10
2. 21, 14, 2, 2
3. 20, 16, 9, 7
4. 23, 22, 21, 20
5. 5, 3, 2, 2
6. 21, 10, 5, 3
7. 21, 14, 9, 3
8. 9, 5, 4, 3
If you can figure any of these out, please list the number and the solution. Thank youHere are all the solutions using only the allowed operations:
1) (13 - 11) * 17 - 10 = 2 * 17 - 10 = 34 - 10 = 24
2) (21 - 2) * 2 - 14 = 19 * 2 - 14 = 38 - 14 = 24
3) (9 - 7) * 20 - 16 = 2 * 20 - 16 = 40 - 16 = 24
4) (23 - 21) * 22 - 20 = 2 * 22 - 20 = 44 - 20 = 24
5) ((2 * 5) - 2) * 3 = (10 - 2) * 3 = 8 * 3 = 24
6) (5 + 10) * 3 - 21 = 15 * 3 - 21 = 45 - 21 = 24
7) (9 + 21) / 3 + 14 = 30 / 3 + 14 = 10 + 14 = 24
8) ((3 * 5) - 9) * 4 = (15 - 9) * 4 = 6 * 4 = 24

Why horizontal egg can't break between two hands?
-It will break eventually if you apply enough force. It's just that when applied end to end a much greater force is required than when applied to the side.If you can maintain equal pressure around the egg, the shell is remarkably strong and won't break.
It is hilarious when the egg slips a little so the pressure is not equal all around. My sister got a face full of raw egg when the egg slipped in my dad's hands during his one and only attempt to prove the strength of an eggshell.
because of its shape. its shape allows it to take more force.

-my father is dead and the said property is still undivided.i am having two sisters alive and married.my mother is also deadYou cannot take an action on a property which is not in ur name. First ascertain if there was a will and the contents and take action according to that. Get the title of the property settled before any action can be initiated. -He hid it in a fennel stalk. In ancient times this is how shepherds in Greece used to carry a lighted fire with them as the fire smoulders for hours inside the stalk and the outside doesn't burn.In Greek mythology, Prometheus is a Titan, the son of Iapetus and Themis, and brother to Atlas, Epimetheus and Menoetius. He was a champion of mankind, known for his wily intelligence, who stole fire from Zeus and gave it to mortals. Zeus then punished him for his crime by having him bound to a rock while a great eagle ate his liver every day only to have it grow back to be eaten again the next day.
prometheus according to plato and protagor stole fire from the workshop of two olympian gods up on mount olympus. the gods were hyfaistus and athena.
hirodotus claims that prometheus transfered fire in an empty piece of reed and that he also gave man cures, ways of making clothes and houses. he tought them about agriculture, writing and maths.
Google is your friend.
He saw the humans struggling, so he stole fire from one of the gods and brought it to earth, giving man the shove it needed to get started in the world

Did bruce lee ever fight chuck noris competmion?
-no.
(as per a quote by chuck norris himself...)
So, would I have beaten Bruce Lee in a real competition or not? You'll forgive me for answering with another Bruce-ism: "Showing off is the fool's idea of glory."Bruce didnt fight in Karate competitions when he was alive, he believed in full contact, but he did teach both Chuck Norris and Joe Lewis who were champions at the time.
Maybe, if there was a contest for worst chop socky actor...
Nope!

Why are there so many Helen Keller jokes?
-Helen Keller was iconic in U.S history. It's mind boggling to know that people made and are still making jokes about her. She was born blind and speech impaired. Is there something I'm missing? Many people seem to enjoy cruel humour. Helen Keller was an iconic figure who was born deaf, dumb and blind but overcame these handicaps. I wonder how these people would feel if it was one of their loved ones or themselves who were being made fun of? Making fun of physically or mentally impaired people just exemplifies the pathetic nature of the perpetrators. I have worked with disabled and disadvantaged people and they are wonderful. Some of these 'jokesters' should try the same and then they may change their opinions. They're almost as bad as the holocaust jokes. Anne Frankly I don't think they're funny.

Who was the smartest person ever?
-My standard guess would be Einstein or Issac Newton.Scientifically speaking, Albert Einstein had the biggest brain and the "smartest" brain cells.
Jesus I mean he was smart enough not to give into temptation. : ) Seriously bUt out of those two I would say Einstein, though Issac contributed A LOT.
Joaquin "el chapo" Guzman loera. And nikola tesla.

As for the size of a gondola - no idea. So long as the thing does not sink when we two waddle down into it.
If we're talking Venice, the exact size is 10.87 metres long and 1.42 metres beam.

What to do when you are on fire?
-Do not come on yahoo and ask a question, instead, run to the nearest source of water, whether that be a sink or bath tub and soak yourself in it. Do not use oil either.Don't run around panicking the added Oxygen caused by movement feed the fire, also slapping your body to put it out will only spread the flames. Drop to the ground and rolling about will smother the flames ......so basically.... stop, drop and roll.
Blast yourself into space. See, space is a vacuum. There is no air. No air = no oxygen. No oxygen = no fire. Unless, of course, you are coated in a substance that contains oxygen, such as gunpowder. But if you are coated in gunpowder and on fire, you are probably dead by now anyways.

Do you know the rest of this nursery rhyme?
-Blank and blank sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G first comes love second comes marriage then comes blank in the baby carriage.
Whats the next part about the baby drinking alcohol and divorce?Suckin' his thumb, wettin' his pants
doin' the naked baby dance
That's not all, that's not all,
Daddy's drinking alcohol
Then comes blame, then comes despair,
two hearts broken beyond repairs.
Blank leaves Blank and takes the tree,
D-I-V-O-R-C-Ethere seems to be several slightly different versions of the rhyme.
(didnt know that :)
Jack and Jill sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G.
First comes love, then come marriage,
Then comes baby in the baby carriage
That's not all that's not all
Here comes the baby drinking alcohol
Thats not it, thats not it
You just caught your baby with a cigarette
Jack and Jill sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G
First comes love. Then comes marriage
Then comes Jack with the baby carriage
Sucking his thumb.Wetting his pants
Doing the hula-hula dance
Jack and Jill sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G
First comes love, the comes marriage
Then comes an abrupt, tragic miscarriage
Then comes blame, then comes despair
Two hearts damaged beyond repair
Jack leaves Jill and takes the tree
D-I-V-O-R-C-E

-help!!!Just palms...lol...sometimes I like to walk with my GF with my right hand in her left back jean pocket, that is cool too...that kinda comes after hand holding though... :)i like just the palms.

Where do clowns originate from?
-The most ancient clowns have been found in the Fifth dynasty of Egypt, around 2400 BCE. Contrary to court jests, clown have traditionally served a socio-religious and psychological role, and traditionally the role of priest and clown have been held by the same persons.
Clowning was developed from a broad tradition of historical performances, and it is difficult to point out a singular tradition or even a few different ones as being the primary precursors to clowns.
However there are a few past prominent forms of entertainment contemporarily linked to clowning as its possible antecedents.
Examples of historical, clown-like comedic performers have been the pantomimus in ancient Greece, the Lazzi of Commedia dell'Arte, bouffons, court jesters, as well as the French mime tradition. On top of this there are many non-European clowning traditions (including clown-like figures in Japanese Kabuki theatre), North American native shamen traditions to consider which may or may not have influenced what we now think of as a clown in the Western world.

Who is the worlds oldest man?
-right now, i think it may be me
but i never wake up properly til lunchtime lolHere is the answer, according to Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jiroemon_Ki鈥?/a>
His name is Jiroemon Kimura, and he and I have the same birthday, although we are not the same age - otherwise we would share the record.
Cody, you are right about Jean Calment being the oldest ever living person, but Jean was female, so wouldn't qualify as being the world's oldest man.
I attempted to conduct some research into the matter with Wikipedia but I'm sorry to say, they don't have an article about the worlds oldest man.
The oldest recorded man to ever live was Jeanne Calment of France. He did in 1997 at the age of 122 years and 164 days.
According to the Bible, Enoch. He did not die - he was taken by God.
So, if you believe in that stuff, He is still alive.
Presumably the first one ever born. Not sure about living ones.

So, if you believe in that stuff, He is still alive.
Presumably the first one ever born. Not sure about living ones.
What is a 2-11 alarm? in fire department lingo?
-well. at least in chicago it is a fire alarm.
edited--(seems its not a 'multi' fire, its a multi-alarm)
added--its when the 1st fire chief determines they need additional help. a '2'nd alarm is sent.
"This is why second alarms are still called "2-11's". A third alarm would be a "3-11" and so on. (In Chicago and some other cities.) See "multi-alarms"."
(this info is near the bottom of page :)
ADDED--
In simple terms it is how many times the fire commander, on the scene, has called for help.
When a citizen reports a structure fire a predetermined response of firefighters and equipment is sent. This is usually something like: 3 Fire engines, a truck or two, and a battalion chief. Some cities will also send an MICU on the first alarm.
If the commander on the scene determines that more resources are needed he may call for a second alarm. This provides another predetermined response. This is usually slightly less than the "First Alarm". It might be two engines and a truck. Often a second Battalion chief is sent along with a district or assistant chief. Certain other support vehicles also might automatically be sent on the second alarm. Examples might be an R&R or Air filling vehicle. Subsequent alarms will get a similar response.
It is not uncommon for you to hear a first arriving fire officer to say, "Give me a second and third alarm for this fire." This means he wants that many resources on the way. (Remember the third alarm response companies are a long way off. They could be 15 minutes away. In some communities, they are an hour or more from arrival.)2-11 is the california penal code for armed robbery. Has nothing to do with fire dept

What came first the chicken or the egg?
-Egg...here's why:
Most scientists now agree that the egg came first. "Chickens evolved from non-chickens through small changes caused by the mixing of male and female DNA or by mutations to the DNA that produced the zygote" (a cell). "These changes and mutations only have an effect at the point where a new zygote is created. That is, two non-chickens mated and the DNA in their new zygote contained the mutation(s) that produced the first true chicken." That one zygote cell divided multiple times to create an embryo to produce the first true chicken.Prior to that first true chicken zygote, there were only non-chickens. The zygote cell is the only place where DNA mutations could produce a new animal, and the zygote cell is housed in the chicken's egg. So, the egg must have come first.
Now, some scientists do disagree, and claim that the chicken must have come first. This is because of a particular protein that is created by a female chicken to develop the hard shell of the egg. They believe that without the chicken, the egg would not have been formed.
Now, I would argue that the latter (chicken) argument has flaws. First, there is no proof that the first chickens hatched hard eggs. Just as fish and reptiles lay soft shelled eggs, it is possible that the first egg of a chicken was soft shelled as well. Second, it is very possible that the non-chicken who laid the mutated chicken egg had this same protein making capability as well, allowing for it to lay a hard-shelled egg that turned out to be the first chicken egg.God created the chicken which laid eggs... then man crammed several chickens into small cages & stacked those cages one on top of the other so he could get many thousands into a building & left them there for the rest of their lives while he sold the eggs.
http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll250鈥?/a>
Man also discovered how good chicken tastes, so he built a 20 X 100 building & put 2000 chickens in there to live ankle deep in their own manure 'til they were ready for slaughter.

Chicken is the domesticated form of the wild Red Junglefowl. It have been created by first breeders 10,000 years ago.
Egg have been the main embryo container for at least 600 million years for all animal classes (even mammals became placental only recently: about 125 MYA).
So egg came first.
Hard irrefutable evidence has recently been discovered by paleontologists studying the origin of birds and the development of dinosaurs, that the egg came a long long time before the chicken came on the scene.
Depends on who you ask, according to the bible it was the chicken, not sure what big bang theorists would say
The egg. There were eggs (fish, reptiles) long before there were chickens.

Third hand smoke is contamination by tobacco smoke that lingers following the extinguishing of a cigarette.
Someone who sleeps with a smoker farts in the same room as you. It can be lethal, citizen.
More bs to second hand smoking. People buy into it.

'A great deal of capital and industry went into erecting the fluid and lofty structure before you鈥攊n celebration of an event that never happened. You haven't entered the twilight zone; rather, this shiny aluminum exhibition hall was spawned to chronicle the paramount geo-political state of affairs during the last half of the last century. In effect, this institution memorializes the fact that global stasis remained just so; that things didn't get worse; that we didn't go MAD.
Opened four years ago, the center belongs to a larger museum devoted to military aviation. The architectural conceit is to portray countervailing forces in the international realm: A pair of 400-foot-long curvilinear triangles are poised in opposition as they rise 100 feet to form a seam at the top. Its 66,000 square feet are crammed with paratroop carriers, refueling tankers, and bombers, and jet fighters hang from the rafters. Since temperatures and humidity are regulated via low-energy ventilation, the designers have earned the right to trumpet their environmental cred.
You are touring this nation's most rural county. Yet at every turn there are riveting (perhaps literally) sites from the early days of the Industrial Revolution. You'll be gobsmacked by the exquisite little cast-iron bridge that spans the country's longest river. And how apropos that a seminal naturalist who deeply pondered issues of survival came from here.
As you tour the exhibition displays, a bleak Churchillian turn of phrase and perhaps even a fancy French word for relaxation in mind, consider that this lustrous museum was founded so that younger generations (for whom Thor and Vulcan might just be video games) would never forget this perilous age. Indeed, recent spontaneous political uprisings could well be the last gasp of the world order established in those dark old days. Welcome to the twilight of the gods.
Where are you, anyhow?'
What I got out of this was:
It is a military aviation museum, somewhere in a country with recent political uprising. There are remnants of the industrial revolution, including an iron-cast bridge that spans the country's longest river. This is one of the newest and biggest aviation museums there is.
I searched wikipedia, and found a list of all the major aerospace museums, and click on ones from countries with recent political uprising (turkey, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Lebanon) but to no avail.
There is a really famous iron cast bridge that spans Englands longest river, which is called the Severn river. After clicking on every English Aerospace museum, the closest museum is the Duxford museum but alas, it does not look the same as this one.
I am stumped, can anyone help out?IF I KNEW THE ANSWER WHY WOULD I POST IT -- BUT NEVER THE LESS; YOU'RE NOT LOOKING FOR AREAS OF RECENT POLITICAL UNREST.. AND THE LONGEST RIVER COMPLETELY IN ENGLAND MAY BE THE THAMES-- ALTOUGH THE CAST IRON BRIDGE IS ACROSS THE SEVERN --SO YOU'RE PART RIGHT I THINK

How Prometheus brought us the gift of fire?

Oldest person to climb kilimanjaro?
-Oldest person to climb Kilimanjaro
In the summer of 2010 we had a couple of record breakers in this field. First, grandad George Solt, a retired professor from Olney in Buckinghamshire, became the oldest man to reach the summit of Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro, at the age of 82. Professor Solt followed the Machame Route and took a total of 8 days to reach the summit and descend again, and was accompanied on his climb by five members of his family.
(Those Kilimanjaro-buffs among you will note that Mr Solt is in fact five years younger than Valtee Daniel, the mysterious Frenchman who at 87 is accepted by some as the oldest man on the summit. But Mr Daniel's climb has never been recognised by the Guinness Book of Records, who insist on certain rules being followed in order for a climber's claim to be accepted. In particular, the record attempt has to be verified by independent witnesses, must be filmed and photographed as well as meticulously documented in a log book. As such, the Guinness Book of Records currently have American Carl Haupt as the oldest man, (he reached the summit at the tender age of 79 back in 2004) - but will presumably have Prof Solt in the 2011 edition.)
Also in 2010, this time in September, 83-year-old Bernice Buum managed to climb to the top of Kilimanjaro - and in doing so, became - I believe - the oldest woman to get to the summit. Ms Buum, who was accompanied by her niece and long-time trekking companion Judy Myers, took six days to complete the trek - four up, two down. She began her training by climbing the 10 flights of stairs at the Rapid City Regional Hospital at the hospital where she volunteers. She described her experience as the 'adventure of a lifetime' - but won't be hurrying back anytime soon, though will continue to hike around the US and near her home.

Why did Willy Wonka change his mind?
-At the end of the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Carlie walks up to Wanka after being yelled at and gives his his everlasting gob stopper. Wonka mutters something and tells Charlie he won.Because Charlie was the only one who returned the everlasting gobstopper. It was a test between Slugworth and Wonka. Slugworth offered Charlie money for the gobstopper after Charlie won the ticket. So even though Wonka turned him away (it was a test) Charlie still gave the candy back. He didn't want to ruin Wonka for his own profit. The thing Wonka mutters is "So shines a good deed."Charlie could have sold the gobstopper for money once he left, the fact that he gave it back meant that he was a good boy. Or something along those lines.
If you actually read the book almost none of the original movie happened though :)
Willy Wonka changed his mind because Charlie gave back the gob stopper. He knew the other kids would give the gob stopper to Slugworth for the ten grande. Willy could tell Charlie was a generous, polite young man.
Because Charlie had admiration and lacked greed like the other brats in the movie.
willy wonka told charlie he'd lost..to see if he would sell the gobstopper to slugsworth..but charlie gives it back..proving that he is pure of heart
Cause charlie loved him and wanted to work with him... ;D

Who is the richest person in the world?
-and what are his or her accomplishments?Carlos Slim (Mexico) - $74 billion, telecommunications
Slim, 71, first showed a business talent as a 10-year-old selling drinks and snacks to his family. After studying engineering, he founded a real estate company and worked as a trader on the Mexican stock exchange. Cigar-smoking Slim is known for a "Midas touch" in acquiring struggling firms and turning them into cash cows.
His enormous wealth contrasts starkly with his frugal lifestyle. He has lived in the same house for about 40 years and drives an aging Mercedes Benz, although it is armored and trailed by bodyguards.
He has become involved in combating poverty, illiteracy and poor healthcare in Latin America and promotes sports projects for the poor, but has never voiced plans to give away large chunks of his wealth to charity.

How did marijuana get the nickname "Mary Jane"?
-Mari(mary)juana(jane)Probably because Juan is a Spanish variant of John and since Juana is feminine, it became Jane (Jane is just a feminine version of John). And Mari just sounds like Mary.
Break up the name marijuana into mari & juana and you have MJ. MJ has been short for the girl's name of Mary Jane a long time. Check Spider-man comics.
it comes directly from the word marijuana.
mari/mary
juana/jane
MariJuana = MJ
Then people came up with names for MJ and I guess Mary Jane stuck.
in spanish, maria= mary
juana=jane

Did Charlie Chaplin have that mustache before Hitler did?
-I saw the 1925 film, The Gold Rush, and I was wondering about Charlie Chaplin's famous mustache. Did he grow it before German Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler did? He is also famous for having had the same style of mustache.
Who had the toothbrush mustache first? Who invented it?chaplin had it first.
hitler was a fan of chaplin and it was speculated that he modeled his after chaplin, but there is no evidence to support it. (hitler originally wore the 'kaiser' moustache)
theres no info on who invented it. just that it became popular in america in the late 1800s, and was introduced in germany by visiting americans.
The Toothbrush moustache (also called Hitler moustache or Hitlerstache, Charlie Chaplin moustache, 1/3 moustache, philtrum moustache, the postage stamp, or soul (mou)stache) is a moustache, shaved at the edges, except for three to five centimeters above the centre of the lip. The sides of the moustache are vertical rather than tapered.
Chaplin had it first, the reason Hitler really had it was because he had to shave his Kaiser mustache so he could wear a gas mask in WW1

When is fire discovered?
-I mean, when is fire discovered where the oldest human kind had just woods and a lightning came ang it makes fire out of it? I'm asking when does that happened? I mean, is it BC or million years ago or something..The controlled use of fire was an invention of the Early Stone Age (or Lower Paleolithic). The earliest evidence for controlled use of fire is at the Lower Paleolithic site of Gesher Benot Ya'aqov in Israel, where charred wood and seeds were recovered from a site dated 790,000 years ago.
Not everybody believes that however; the next oldest site is at Zhoukoudian, a Lower Paleolithic site in China dated to about 400,000 BP, and at Qesem Cave (Israel), between about 200,000-400,000 years ago.
In a paper published in Nature in March 2011, Roebroeks and Villa report their examinations of the available data for European sites and conclude that habitual use of fire wasn't part of the human (meaning early modern and Neanderthal both) suite of behaviors until ca. 300,000 to 400,000 years ago. They argue that the earlier sites are representative of opportunistic use of natural fires.Caveman times uh those were the days
Probably during the stone age..

The light in the refrigerator. How can we prove it goes out when the door is closed?
-Get in it and close the door.On my refrigerator, there is a small "button" of sorts that the door pushes when it is closed. So, I could push the button with my finger and the light goes off.
Also, on a side note, I stayed in a facny beach house and the refrigerator light lit up in front of your eyes as the door opened. It was quite cool the first few times you opened it.
The closing door pushes a switch which turns off the light. Find the switch, push it, and the light will turn off. As soon as you release the switch it'll turn on. There may be multiple switches, which all need to be pushed at once.
A culinary version of Schr枚dinger's cat?
The light is both on and off until you open the door to check.
you push the button the door hits when you close the fridge
Climb in and ask someone to shut the door..............................

Why is english universal language.. when china and India are most populated countires in the world?
-There are numerous reasons, as considered in the book listed below, but essentially, English is increasingly seen as a neutral medium in commerce ... knowledge of it is very widespread around the world, owing to historical factors, and that makes it useful. By contrast, India has many regional languages, making use of any one of these somewhat politically sensitive. Chinese is wedded to a difficult writing system and itself has a few regional "dialects", equivalent to languages in themselvesThere are numerous reasons, as considered in the book listed below, but essentially, English is increasingly seen as a neutral medium in commerce ... knowledge of it is very widespread around the world, owing to historical factors, and that makes it useful. By contrast, India has many regional languages, making use of any one of these somewhat politically sensitive. Chinese is wedded to a difficult writing system and itself has a few regional "dialects", equivalent to languages in themselvesTwo good reasons:
1. More people speak English. While China and India have more people, this just means they have more native English speakers. Only about 300-400 million people speak English as their first language, but about 1.4billion know it as a second language meaning about 1.8 billion people speak English worldwide.
2. The most powerful economies in the world generally speak English. Now that China and India are growing as economic powers, it is likely that more people will begin to learn their languages to help trade and diplomatic relations. At the same time, more Chinese and Indian people will learn English though as Education becomes more widespread and accessible.
While there are many people living in those countries, the language is restricted to that country because not many other countries consider Chinese or Indian a native tongue. English, and french, are used as a native language in many countries, so is therefore considered universal, as it's used around the world.
English is more widespread. Not in the number of people who speak it, but rather by the number of countries in which it is an official language, and often the main official language.
because they have been isolationist countries
rather than English speaking countries who have traveled the world
and needed to speak for commerce - travel - etc
all the best
they are 3rd world countries, while most western, english speaking are highly developed countries
notwitstanding lesser population., english had been/is/will be the link for the entire earth and hence
Because English speaking nations have been the most influential around the world.

What is metrication???????
-Metrication refers to the introduction and use of the SI metric system, the international standard for physical measurements. This has involved a long process of independent and systematic conversions of countries from various local systems of weights and measures. Metrication began in France in the 1790s and spread widely during the following two centuries. The process is sometimes called metrification.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MetricationIt is the process of changing the values used in a system from imperial units to metric ones. I live in the UK and we used to use pounds and ounces, inches and feet etc but after metrication we use grams and kilograms and centimetres and metres.
It is practised because it is easier for two or more countries to trade if they deal in the same units, but also because the metric measurements are related to the SI (Systeme Internationale) and SI are almost always the measurements used in science and mathematics.
It is, as Wotnik and others have said here, the change from a local system of weights and measures to the metric system. However, Wotnik is slightly wrong about the status of the UK. We're neither fully metric nor fully Imperial here. In some areas of life - like weighing out loose goods in shops - we've gone metric. In other areas we've stayed Imperial - all of our road signs are in miles and yards, our draught beer and bottled milk are sold in pints and most Britons think of their height in feet and inches and their weight in stones (14lb) and pounds (unlike Americans, who just use pounds for their weight. In some areas, imperial units seem to be making a comeback: the major supermarket chain ASDA recently reintroduced 1-pound packs of strawberries after 16 years selling them in metric sizes. So we're a bilingual country as far as weights and measures are concerned.

What was the first hotel in the world?
-There is no telling what the 'first' hotel was, but the oldest is known. But the first hotel is at least 2011 years old if you consider the Bible where Jesus was born in a stable because there was no room at the inn. An inn is technically a hotel of sorts.
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the oldest hotel still in operation is the Hoshi Ryokan, in the Awazu Onsen area of Komatsu, Japan which opened in 718.
http://www.ho-shi.co.jp/jiten/Houshi_E/h鈥?/a>The Hoshi Ryokan in the village of Awazu, Japan, is the world's oldest hotel. It dates back to AD 717, when an inn was built near a hot-water spring said to have miraculous healing properties. The waters are still celebrated for their recuperative effects.
The Ryokan has evolved through the centuries. Today, it offers100 rooms and can accommodate up to 450 guests. A new guest, on arrival, is garbed in a "Yukata", the japanese traditionnal cotton kimono. The hotel boasts of forty-six generations of owners.
The Dorchester opened its doors for the first time on April 18, 1931. Renamed InterContinental The Barclay New York, the hotel is one of the oldest hotels on New York's East Side.

What did Edward VI and Lady Jane Grey look like?
-Nobody knows!
There were no cameras in Tudor times. People's images reported in Wiki and the like were based on portraits painted by artists. Unfortunately artists did not get paid if the portraits were unflattering to the sitter.
If you remember, Henry VIII agreed to marry Anne of Cleves based on a portrait sent to him. When he actually saw her and she looked nothing like her portrait she was dubbed "The Flander''s Mare".
When the artist advised Oliver Cromwell that he would improve his looks in his work - Cromwell told the artist to paint "Warts and all".
Therefore what I am saying is when you see portraits of Lady Jane Grey and Edward VI you may get a general idea of size but totally ignore any facial features. They almost certainly will not just have been "touched up" to improve like a modern day photograph, but instead probably totally fabricated to flatter the sitter.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Portra鈥?/a>

i think it was like casey or lawrence.... but i cant quite remember. i could be way off too though.Edgar Cayce ( pronounced Casey) of Virginia Beach USA. He also told people about their past lives and how they were influencing their current lives, and also about health issues and what was causing them. He died of exhaustion really due to his excessive psychic activities as people just wouldn't leave him alone and were always pestering him for readings. He was a good man. There are many books about his revelations.angela petrelli

What is the price of dinner on a Friday evening for dinner at the mandarin? Thursday?
-I think we need just a little bit more information.
The "Mandarin" restaurant in Bangkok or Stoke Poges will have completely different menus and prices!
Why don't you telephone whichever "Mandarin" you mean and ask them for the details? I am sure they will be only too pleased to help.

-your in a circular room with 2 identical doors and 2 identical sentries guarding each door, one door leads to heaven and the other door leads to hell. The sentry guarding the door to heaven will always tell the truth whereas the sentry guarding the door to hell will always tell lies! you can only ask one question to one of the sentries to find out where the doors lead but cant ask outright if their door leads to heaven. what question do you ask?You ask the first sentry who is that one and unique person who is way the truth and the life and through whom only it is that you can you get to the Father ? The sentry guarding heaven will tell you His name (Jesus) very easliy. Watch the them both very closely when that name is said. The sentry guarding hell will tremble when he hears that name even if he tries not to but he'll struggle to hide it, and that way you'll know who to trust. Then go through the door of the sentry who said the name cos that leads to heaven and no to the other door with the trembling sentry.
Its true haha!
"Demons will tremble at the name of Jesus" somehwere in Bible.
you ask ' would he (the other sentry) tell me this is the door that leads to heaven?'..just say his answer is 'yes'..you know it's the other door..because if he were the one who always told the truth he would be telling you the 'lie' that the other sentry would tell..but if he were the one that lied then he would be telling you the wrong answer..so you know it's got to be the other door..no matter what. obviously..if they answer 'no'..you know it's yes
you ask sentry 1 "if I ask sentry 2 is he the one guarding the way to heaven what would he say?" if sentry 1 is the one guarding hell sentry 1 would lie and say sentry 1 would say no. if sentry 1 is the one guarding heaven then he would tell the truth and say yes since sentry 2 is guarding hell and he would lie and say yes. so if sentry 1 says yes then he is guarding heaven if he says no then he is guarding hell
What door do you guard?
The sentry to Hell would point to the other door, which would be the door to Heaven, as he is lying
The sentry to Heaven would point to his own door, which would be the door to Heaven, as he is telling the truth
Ask if fire is hot or burns humans, the Hell Sentry would say no, and the Heaven Sentry would say yes.
Hope that is right =D
I'd ask, 'are you a sentry?'. The guard to hell would say no?

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?
-I need to know the answer. My life depends on it!!!!You don't lick it, you suck on it. and the avg time for sucking on a tootsie pop till its gone and only the core is left is in the vicinity of 8 minutes. If you do lick it you fail at eating a tootsie pop.
334 licks
one, twhooooooooo, three, crunch :)
3
There is no center. You'll be licking that pop for an eternity
you count all licks and divide by two
the world may never know

Which came first chicken or the egg?
-The chicken.. and there had to be 2 in order to reproduceThe chicken for both scientific and religious reasons.
Religious because God created the chicken so it can makes eggs everywhere.
Scientifically, the many years of bird evolution would change a bird into the chicken we know today.
The chicken.
proof: http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2010/07/1鈥?/a>
OBVIOUSLY the chicken, at the beginning of time there wasn't just at random egg sitting on the ground. God made two chickens male and female who created the egg. End of story.
Depends in your beliefs. If you're a christian the chicken.
One rooster and one hen.

Is it true, that the mayflower Compact was also part of the basis to form our constitutional government?
-meaning both jonestown and the pilgrims had parts in forming our government even before george washington was born?
source: Dave Barton American Heritage series.History classes generally declare that the Mayflower Compact was one of the source documents used by the founding fathers to give form to the Constitution. They also had knowledge of the English Magna Carta. Originally, the colonists wanted simply to form an agreement with the Crown to allow the colonists a measure of self rule. They wanted more say into their own affairs. King George III was not open to the colonists suggestions. As a result, the colonists had to take drastic measures to accomplish their goal of self-government. The original Articles of Confederation gave too much autonomy to the states and not enough central authority over matters of mutual concern. Thus, the Constitution was born to solve the problems discovered in the previous attempts. A central government working with the combined efforts of sovereign states and yet preserving individual rights.
The Mayflower Compact was but one of the source documents that led to the Constitution.
