Mensa problem solving #20!?

-To celebrate her 6th birthday, Lori planted a tree in her parent's garden. She had often watched her dad plant things and she did it just right. She even remembered to water it. Her mother was furious. She said that tree belonged to her and she had no business planting it. However, her father thought it was funny, but explained to her that the tree would never grow. Why?It looks like a little tree. To a 6 year old, why wouldn't it grow into a big tree? It won't grow because the roots have been removed by the time it reaches a kitchen.



This sounds wierd now. I hope it is right.I liked the other answers, (especially shoe tree) but would say it was a fake Christmas tree because a 6 yr old would know what the others were {but by the same token, she should know a plastic tree from a real tree. - so maybe it was a small but real Christmas tree that had no life left in it.}

She buried her father's feet in the dirt. Mother was angry because she got Father's shoes all dirty, and Father really does belong to Mother. Father thought it was funny, though, which is why he went along with it.



It also could have been her mom's shoe tree, which would follow the same logic.
if it isnt an air freshener (good one 1st answerer) could it have been a carved tree?
