What came first the chicken or the egg?

-Egg...here's why:



Most scientists now agree that the egg came first. "Chickens evolved from non-chickens through small changes caused by the mixing of male and female DNA or by mutations to the DNA that produced the zygote" (a cell). "These changes and mutations only have an effect at the point where a new zygote is created. That is, two non-chickens mated and the DNA in their new zygote contained the mutation(s) that produced the first true chicken." That one zygote cell divided multiple times to create an embryo to produce the first true chicken.Prior to that first true chicken zygote, there were only non-chickens. The zygote cell is the only place where DNA mutations could produce a new animal, and the zygote cell is housed in the chicken's egg. So, the egg must have come first.



Now, some scientists do disagree, and claim that the chicken must have come first. This is because of a particular protein that is created by a female chicken to develop the hard shell of the egg. They believe that without the chicken, the egg would not have been formed.



Now, I would argue that the latter (chicken) argument has flaws. First, there is no proof that the first chickens hatched hard eggs. Just as fish and reptiles lay soft shelled eggs, it is possible that the first egg of a chicken was soft shelled as well. Second, it is very possible that the non-chicken who laid the mutated chicken egg had this same protein making capability as well, allowing for it to lay a hard-shelled egg that turned out to be the first chicken egg.God created the chicken which laid eggs... then man crammed several chickens into small cages & stacked those cages one on top of the other so he could get many thousands into a building & left them there for the rest of their lives while he sold the eggs.

Man also discovered how good chicken tastes, so he built a 20 X 100 building & put 2000 chickens in there to live ankle deep in their own manure 'til they were ready for slaughter.

Chicken is the domesticated form of the wild Red Junglefowl. It have been created by first breeders 10,000 years ago.



Egg have been the main embryo container for at least 600 million years for all animal classes (even mammals became placental only recently: about 125 MYA).



So egg came first.
Hard irrefutable evidence has recently been discovered by paleontologists studying the origin of birds and the development of dinosaurs, that the egg came a long long time before the chicken came on the scene.
Depends on who you ask, according to the bible it was the chicken, not sure what big bang theorists would say
